When the winds come in from Africa in Portugal – which is not an unusual thing, apparently – they carry with them sand that coats just about everything in a fine red dust.
It can take ages to clean it all up but apparently the nutrients in these sands are good for the farms here in central Portugal, so at least there’s that.
When the winds came earlier this spring, they were so strong I had a mental image of all the small boats off the coast of Portugal getting tossed up into the air to the tune of the old Joni Mitchell song, which I played while sketching this little scene 🎶🎶

Lovely sketches.
Vibrant! That's the word that keeps shouting at me. Such beautiful vibrant colors. Loving what I see so far Kristin! And haha, I'll guarantee you I know that Joni Mitchell song - no matter which one it is!
